VOLTA, BASEL’S ART FAIR FOR NEW INTERNATIONAL POSITIONS
VOLTA, Basel’s art fair for new international positions, debuted in 2005 as a collaboration between dealers and friends. The aim was to secure a platform for international galleries beyond young art stalwart Liste and market heavyweight Art Basel. Concerns and aspirations of the exhibiting gallerists have been first and foremost since VOLTA‘s inception; in combination with the curatorial mind of Artistic Director Amanda Coulson, eclectic and dynamic presentations with a strong focus on solo presentations find a stage as refined as at the main fair.
Noted for being a “space for discovery”, VOLTA returns to the former COOP distribution center as the newest cultural hub in Basel. Located across from the Novartis Campus at Elsässerstrasse 215,just 9 minutes away from Art Basel and within the neighborhood of the very first venue at Voltaplatz. VOLTAsets the tone and plants its (artistic) flag as the first major event within the space.
VOLTA, UNA FIERA D’ARTE A BASILEA PER LE NUOVE RICERCHE INTERNAZIONALI
La fiera VOLTA Basel per le nuove ricerche internazionali ha aperto nel 2005 come collaborazione tra mercanti e amici. Lo scopo era quello di garantire una piattaforma per gallerie internazionali che andasse oltre le giovani sfide di Liste e l’importante mercato di Art Basel. Il progetto ha tenuto conto delle necessità e delle aspirazioni delle gallerie espositrici con la direzione artistica di Amanda Coulson, dando vita a presentazioni eclettiche e dinamiche con una forte concentrazione su mostre personali. VOLTA Basel propone una fiera di alto livello collegata ad Art Basel.
Famosa per essere uno “spazio di scoperta”, VOLTA ritorna quest’anno al COOP distribution center, il nuovo centro culturale di Basilea. Situato difronte al Novartis Campus in Elsässerstrasse 215, a soli 9 minuti da Art Basel e vicino alla sua sede storica di Voltaplatz.
